penguinHey everyone,

Walking on the ice can be very challenging and the unfortunate fall could result in hip, hand, or back injury.  Just saw my second patient who hurt themselves when they slipped on the ice! Besides the obvious footwear, what can we do? Channel your inner Penguin…

How to walk on ice:
1. take shorter steps
2. keep your body weight over your leg, foot flat, no heel strike.
3. slightly bend at the waist to help keep your weight over your leg
4. hands out of your pocket, out by your side to help with balance
5. finally, toe out a bit, yes, like a Penguin!

Be safe
